A little bit about Doon Social Farm!

Doon Social Farm is part of Ballyhoura Rural Services CLG (BRS). BRS started in 2010 to address social isolation in North Cork and East Limerick by setting up a befriending service.

The social farm was set up in 2019. The Mercy Sisters kindly donated lands and buildings to the BRS project, to create a social farm. Social farming is a service offered by farmers to the public to improve health and wellness by doing farm activities and integrating socially into the farm. Since then, Doon Social Farm has welcomed visitors and participants for tours or social farming programmes.

We also operate an organic farm, producing organic eggs and vegetables. These are available in various outlets around Limerick City, in Co. Tipperary and in our own farm shop. Look out for Happy Hen organic eggs. Outlets are listed below.

Doon Social Farm supports the conservation of native wildlife and recently developed a wetlands with the support of the Climate Action Fund, from Limerick City and County Council. This includes a 400m wheelchair accessible loop walk.

As a charity we depend on funding so a big thank you to all our funders.

If you are looking for a charity to donate to, why not think of us?  We support children, young people and adults with disabilities, as well as our farming for nature and  conserving native wildlife.
